According to the US Census Bureau, approximately 25% of custodial parents who are not receiving the child support to which they are entitled live below the poverty line. In addition, they work two or more jobs, or receive government aid, just to provide the bare necessities for their children. If you are a custodial parent who is entitled to child support, you need to know and understand your rights. The non-custodial parent has an obligation to contribute in the financial responsibility of raising your child or children. Every time you pay rent, purchase groceries, buy school supplies, the non-custodial parent is responsible in sharing in those costs.

When support orders are ignored by the non-custodial parent, it is the children who suffer. More often than not, it is the negative emotions the parents have for one another that obscure what is most important: the welfare of the children.
